hmmm the setting...i like the idea of the whole vally keeping out the radioactive gases stuff mind you if it didnt then there would be no book!!!! if it was in the later age with more technology it would be easier to survive therefor less excitment!!!

In a way the whole setting of Z is for Zacharia like a prison. There is no way out without dieing. Outside of the valley everything is 'dead' because of the radiation. When Mr Loomis comes he comes with a suit that supposedly can withstand whats outside the valley. Mr Loomis is a crazy man and Ann has to have a place to hide. The valley is really big so she has lots of places to hide. She goes to the cave she already knew about. She has to get the suit to get away from him so she steals it and gets away.

first of all it was sanctuarry because of the fact that she had lived there her whole life and knew the land incredibly well. she knew the good hiding spots and knew how to survive if anything should happen that left her in trouble.

second of all it was hostile maybe before mr loomis had arrived because she was all alone and she had so much work to get on with that she couldnt know if anything else was going on in the valley.
it became even more hostile after mr L arrived as she had grown used to being alone and being so busy she didnt have time to think about anything but work. she had also given up hope that her family was ever coming back and moved on. mr L made it extremely hard to get on with her farm work when he required constant care which got ann started thinking about her family and how she had missed them.

well i thought that the whole american nuclear explosion was very good because how ann was feeling sad that she could not talk to anyone until mr loomis came along and then how she changed her mind when mr loomis was hunting her like an animal but out of 10 a rate the book z for zacharia a 10 because i feeled you just can not wait until next english lesson

yes it was very sanctuary to Ann
because i think cave will dark and
scary. And Ann is girl. This is not fair to girl. But I think
someone will kill me and I don't have any safe place for me, Un fortunally I will go to the cave.
I don't know what happen to Ann
in the last part.(I was sick)
But I think it was very good story. I some other country start the nuclear war. These happens can will come to us. Anyway, I am really enjoy this book!!!

From the time of the nuclear war up until Mr Loomis' arrival, the valley was a safe & secure place for Ann. You could almost call it "paradise", but when Mr Loomis turns up, everything changed. In the end even though the valley was quite large; Mr Loomis, with the help of Faro, could track Ann down wherever she went. She was forced to live "primitively", living in a hollow tree scavanging food.

so i finally got on hecomp so here i ammaking my mark on yourpage.
I thoguht the book was quite sanctuary in the first few chapters when the man in the green suit hadn't yet come to the valley andthen it became hostile an dark with the truth slowly unwindingand then it got borng because she didnt kill him like i had hoped he would.
